It was such a relief to get that big win last night in Game 2 and tie up the series. We put so much effort into that game with guys diving on the floor, getting up into the Hawks defensively, gang rebounding and playing so hard. We´re still not making a lot of jump shots and the Hawks are making it hard to score, but we found a way to win and that´s something to really be proud of.
I played all 48 minutes last night and somebody told me that´s just the second time I´ve ever done that in a game that didn´t go into overtime. I told coach if I get tired to just call a timeout. He kept asking me, Do I want to come out of the game, but I said, Keep playing. I felt like I need to be on the floor and I wasn´t in foul trouble.
When you´re out there fighting to get a win, you can´t think about any pain; you just have to fight through it. As much as I get hit and beat on, I keep my focus on what we´re trying to accomplish here.
Like I told everybody, I´ll sleep when I die. I´ll take my rest when they put me under the ground. Until then while I´m on Earth, I have to put in work. If I play 48 minutes, I play 48 minutes.
That´s why they make this Gatorade. One drink is the before and one drink is the recover. I know I´ll need to drink plenty of that Gatorade after Tuesday night because my body needs to recover following that game. I put my body in some ice after the game and that helps a little, but really it´s about getting my rest now. Some of Atlanta´s players said that they don´t think I can keep it up the whole series, but we´ll have to see about that. This is why I train so hard and keep my body strong for playoff battles like this.
This is going to be a really tough, long series. I know people are really worried about our offense right now, but this is going to be a defensive series. It´s going to be a tough, hard-fought series and it´s going to be tough to score.
I know folks in the A-T-L are going to be hyped up for Game 3, so we´re going to have to enter with a mindset that says we´re not going to let anything break us. We have to go in there and defend their shooters, rebound and keep believing regardless of what happens.
I hope we showed all of the Magic fans out there that we´re going to be fighting hard this whole series. We know what´s at stake here and we just feel like when we play Magic basketball we´re going to win. That means working our butts off on defense and doing what it takes to win games in the fourth quarter.
We need everybody out there to continue to believe in us and stick with us. There are going to be highs and lows in this series, but I´m confident that we have the team to win.
Peace out everybody. Yuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
