I sure hope there isn’t a suspension after what happened between me and Sam Dalembert in the first quarter of Tuesday’s game. It isn’t like I’m out there trying to hurt anybody. I think everybody knows how I play basketball. I’m just out there trying to win. That’s got to be taken into consideration.
I think when the league looks at the total picture of what’s happened throughout this series that they will understand it’s a physical game down in the paint. Really, it’s been a dogfight down there the whole series. All I can do now is hope for the best, but I think it will be all good.
Philly big man Reggie Evans even came up to me at the end of the game and said he was going to ask his G.M. to not go to the league about trying to get me suspended. I appreciate that from Reggie. Hopefully it will all work out for the best and I’ll be out there ballin’ for Game 6 on Thursday in Philly.
As for the Sixers complaining about me being in the lane too long on both ends of the floor, why are they just now bringing that up?
Before last night’s Game 5, the series was tied 2-2, so I don’t think there’s been an advantage of me being in the paint. I’ve been doing the same thing the whole series. I’m not going out there and complaining about anything, so I don’t think they should be complaining. Truthfully, I don’t think I’ve been in the paint too long and I’m not going to change anything now.
What upset me the most on Tuesday was accidentally hurting my man, C-Lee. I just went up for the block and when I came down I guess my elbow got Courtney across the face. I heard the whole thing happen and it really upset me because we need Courtney out there and he’s been playing so well.
I went and saw him in the hospital after the game and he’s doing OK. We don’t know if he will be able to play on Thursday, but we just want him to get back healthy.
More coming later today or tomorrow from Philly. I’m out. Go Magic!

Don’t sweat the small stuff Dwight; if you pray, why worry? If you worry, why pray? Go out there and do what you do best, and know that you have a lot of people praying for you.
God Bless
In my opinion Dwight, I think Philly is now at the edge of the cliff and are now looking for excuses. I completely agree with what Stan said last night in the press conference after the game. You have always been doing the same thing throughout the whole season and the playoffs. And about that hit to the head on Dalembert, I for one don’t think you should be suspended, but I’d understand why the league would suspend you. Its a physical game and you were getting pushed by Dalembert. You’re always getting hacked and have barely gotten any calls all series until last night. The “refs you suck” chant we were chanting was awesome lol.
If you saw Rajon Rondo last night in the bulls game, he hacked Brad Miller right in the throat which should of been called a Flagrant Foul. And if you do get suspended, then Rondo should as well. He drew blood.
Anyway, I lost my voice again last night at the game. The crowd was intense. I’m always trying to start chants and hype up the crowd because sometimes it feels so dead. But last night was really amazing.
Word…stay positive..what ever happened to letting them play in the playoffs?
I honestly don’t think they’ll suspend you. If they do it’ll be complete bull***. I saw the post game interview by Tony DiLeo and I couldn’t hear anything over the sound of his incessant whining. He need to just STFU and let you guys play ball.
I hope you don’t get suspended, we are one game away from sending the sixers home. Hopefully the league will take into consideration that both teams are trying to win the series and accidents will happen. This is the playoffs, players are playing harder now than in regular season. The sixers are worried, that’s why they are complaning about you being in the paint to long. Like you said why are they bringing it up now? When they were leading the series 2-1 their coach didn’t say anything about you being in the paint, now that the Magic is leading 3-2, now it’s a problem. As for Courtney Lee glad to hear he will be alright, he is a big part of the game. If you and Courtney don’t play, which I hope at least you do, I hope Magic bury the sixers in philly. And if not game 7 is in Orlando. Go Magic.
Your Elbow.
I do not Condone it.(I am a Father after all)
But I understand.
You’re my favorite player in the NBA by far, but even I know that elbow was a bit too far. You know if someone did that to you how pissed you would be. That being said, I know it was in the heat of the playoffs, but that’s part of the maturation process is keeping your cool even during a tough series. All you can do now is recognize it was a mistake on your part, own it, and learn from it. Be easy
just play, play harder and keep playing harder.
forget those philly pussies. they want you out coz they fear you.
You’re going to get suspended. You deserve to get suspended. Man up, accept that you let your emotions get the better of you, and serve your suspension.
Come back with controlled passion for game 7 (we both know there’s no way a Dwight-less Magic team beats the Sixers)
If anyone should be suspended after last night it was Rajon Rondo, not you, his hit was ridiculous. Just read Courtney is out for game 6. That sucks, but my questeion how do you fracture a sinus when a sinus isn’t a bone, rather an open region in the skull to allow air and fluid passage? Hmmm someone at the sentinal needs to get their facts straight, or C-lee needs a new Dr…
I don’t know if you read this but… Dwight, I respect you and I love your game. Your witness for Christ is awesome. I know what it’s like when you’re playing in a physical game and push somebody or something. It’s tough not to do something like that sometimes. Even if you didn’t really mean to hurt him or anything, fans take it that way. I read a comment on another blog that said this “For someone who wears his choir boy religious views on his sleeve, i lost all respect for D-HO”. I haven’t lost all respect for you, not in the least bit. What you did wasn’t all that bad, but because of the position you’re in, whatever you do is magnified and examined by everyone. People should realize that nobody is perfect and giving somebody a tap on the head shouldn’t make them lose respect for you. But, because you’re placed on such a high pedestal you have to try and be “above reproach” I think it might have been better if you apologized, because it was unnecessary, and just because they may do the same stuff to you doesn’t make it right to do something to them. I’m not saying don’t be physical, but you know where the line is. I don’t mean to lecture you, even though it probably came off that way, it just hurts to see people dismiss your witness like that. I’m totally for you and your success and I’m praying for you.
Nate
Hey Dwight! I dont think you should get suspended. the guy was holding you and Dalenbert didnt want to let go of you. you were just trying to get ready for the next play. Lets hope you dont get suspended. You are the best around! MVP!!
Dwight, I know that the NBA will realize that you were just playing the game. NBA should consider how rough it gets in a game, especially during postseason. Keep your head up and God will take care of the rest. Keep doing what you do b/c you make “amazing” happen! GO MAGIC!!!
btw, i have a new name for you:
Dw’HOwTtie or D-HOT for short =)
that was a dirty play. I’m glad you got suspended – that kind of intentional viciousness has no place in the NBA.
I’m sorry to see that you got suspended…the rest of the team will need to get together and show Philly what they can do!
they have been banging with you down low all series and it is what it is.
and for the 3 seconds , i didnt hear them complaining when they were up 2-1 in the series. complaining about 3 in the key isnt gonna stop you from cramming on sammy D all day.
i think the series could easily be over right now if in game 3 JJ played over turkoglu for a few minutes cause turk was shooting bad and had 5 turnovers. wouldnt hurt to try someone else out who can shoot from the parking lot.
good luck thursday , philly lucky lighhtning isnt playing in the playoffs , or it would be 4-0 without a doubt.
Hey Dwight, Sorry to hear about you being suspended. I trust the Magic will still take care of business in game 6. Keep your head up and know the fans are behind you.
So you got suspended big deal, it’s not like you didn’t see it coming. You broke a major rule and now you have to take your punishment. Tomorrow you won’t play and the Magic will have to step up their game big time to close out the series or they lose and you get to redeem your self in game 7. From what I hear you should have been ejected from the game and you wasn’t, so I’m sure you had to know there would be some type of punishment coming. Anyway what’s done is done, just play a fair game and keep those elbows down. Hold your head up and smile.
“No Howard. No Lee. Can the teams just move ahead to Game 7 already?”
Oh, really? I just read this quote on an article from Philadelphia and to me it shows no respect whatsoever for your teammates who, IMHO, are more than capable to go to Philly and steal game 6 without you and Lee. Dwight, don’t worry about the suspension and just help out the team staying positive. As a player myself, I’ve experienced so many games where the team supposed to win ends up losing and giving a poor effort: they think it’s going to be easy, well guess what? Gortat and Battie and Redick and all the bench will play an amazing game. Philly will feel much more pressure and, when they see the Magic are fighting back, they might have a melt down. I don’t know, but I just have a feeling that Orlando is going to win game 6. Dwight, you can help out even without playing! please, hang that stupid quote I read on the paper in the locker room. Should be enough to motivate your team. GO MAGIC!

It’s amazing how people wish or want bad things to happen to people. I’ve read all of the comments and for the most part, most of them were symphathetic, but as always there are going to be some haters lurking in the shadows. I feel like some of the negative comments was unneccessary, okay yeah you got supended but for so call fans to leave comments saying they are happy that you got suspended doesn’t help the matter any. Why kick a brother while he’s down? If you are a true fan, you will be a true fan when something good happens to a person and when something bad happens. To Dwight, it’s unfortunate that you got supended, because I felt that you reacted out of human instinct and defense. I’m sure most every has acted out of instinct and impulse. And i’m sure alot of people would have reacted the same way or worse. But please take this as a lesson learned and try to be the bigger man sometimes. It can be hard, because people will test your nerve, but take this moment and embed it in your memory, so that it will help you remain calm. As for your team mates I have confidence that they will do very well tomorrow night against the 76′ers. Even though you won’t be in the game physically, you will be there in spirit. Also, this not only a lesson learned for you, but it’s one for your team mates as well. This is there time to step up to the plate and work hard; this will teach them not to always have to rely on you. During your break take a few moments to reflect on what has happened and encourage your team mates to go out there tomorrow and do their best. Because like you said in one of your addidas commercials to the young players its all about brotherhood. As for C. Lee I wish him well and many blessings in his recovery. It won’t be long before you two are back out there playing in the playoffs. As I’ve always learned “this to shall pass”! Peace, Love, and Blessings!
You have my unconditional support. I played paintball with you on my 18th birthday, and i know your a good guy, even Jesus lost his temper. Don’t let the media dogs begging for a story get you down.
Thanks for being a great role model on and off the court.
Dwight…a short letter I sent to the NBA and David Stern…
David,
The suspension of Dwight Howard for game six is a complete joke if you let Rondo walk, if they called the foul on Dalembert in the first place Dwight wouldn’t have to fight his way free…Your officials are inadequate at best and follow the direction of YOU the mighty David Stern…Just call a FAIR GAME every once in a while. Why is it that NBA coaches are the most fined coaches in professional sports??? Simple! Because the officiating SUCKS….win or lose it SUCKS…one bad call followed by another to make up for it…what the elite players get away with on one end of the floor the rest of the league gets penalized for doing on the other. If the 3 officials you have covering every game CAN’T keep track of the action ACCURATELY and FAIRLY then get 4 or 5 of them to cover the games and stop the nonsense! Not sure how many officials the NFL has on the field at a time but they seem to do a better job of calling penalties, and even they miss a few but will at least conference with each other to try to get it right.
FIX THE PROBLEM and stop trying to pretend there isn’t one.
Sincerely,
Al Paone
Hey dwight, I’m pretty upset about your foul. I mean from the video it looks like you did it on purpose. I know its been dirty down in the paint this round, but you still can’t be throwing elbows. I’m a little disappointed but I’m sure your learning a lesson. I admire you a lot, and everyone makes mistakes in their life no matter how famous they are. I’ll continue to proudly wear your jersey because I know your a good fun guy. Can’t wait til you get back. Tell C-LEE I hope he gets better soon!
Dwight – please use this suspension to keep motivated and looking towards the ultimate goal of a championship. I hope you can maybe give a locker room prep talk to the guys. I think they can pull one off tomorrow night in your defense and play like they’ve never played before. You’re a great guy – don’t let this discourage you. Rise above them!
Dwight, I am really sorry about the suspension. There have been _many__many___many fouls that should have been called and were not. I have great respect and admiration for you, because of everything that you’ve done and your faith. Tomorrow you will get up, the sunshine indicates a brighter day, and all will be right. Game 7 (if necessary),you will have to remain steady, tough and be aware that they are trying to provoke you once again,___ be cool and stay cool. GO MAGIC!!!!!!! Go D12!!!!!!
I cant believe you even deny that it wasnt intentional. You should be brought up on assault charges after that horrible incedent. You bring shame to the game after you grabbed his arm and elbowed him in the head, and then play it off, chaulking it up to playing hard in the paint. Its on video, your being photographed and video taped the whole game and you have the nerve to lie to your fans and the public. I mean I understand why your lying, its not like you can admit your thuggish ways, the media would have you on a stake. I used to be a fan…. used to be. You should be suspended for the rest of playoffs.
I dont mean to use up the space but I was reading a lot of the comments and I had to say a couple of more things.
How in the world can anyone that watched the game be this blind. You have something to protect so I get it. But why are these people even saying anything? You didnt even have the ball, your elbows had no reason to even be that high.. C’mon… Some of the professionals that you work with didnt choose to be dare I say, “role models” but you have put your face out there, you have chosen the spot light and now its on you. Look at what most of your fans are saying on here. Look at what kind of image your puting out there.. your promoting violence and teaching people how to not take responsibility for their actions. Being a professional and playing a professional sport are two different things apparently. Im sure the battle is fierce down low. I have been watching, but this isnt war or the streets. Even if this guy is hacking and pushing you.. I mean honestly who is this guy? no disrespect to Sam Dalembert..But everone knows Dwight Howard. It just goes to show that some cliches are meant to be said because even with all that money you will never be able to buy class. Owning up to what you did what be a good start though.
