L.A. HELD HOMECOURT; LET’S DO THE SAME

Tough, tough loss last night cause we really thought we let the Lakers off the hook and should have won that game. It was there for us so many times, but we couldn’t grab it because we didn’t execute and turned the ball over too many times.

I was frustrated and in the first game too, but being the leader on my team I can’t let my teammates see me frustrated. I’ve got to play through all the different situations and learn from them.

We’ve just got to take care of the ball better. There are a lot of times, I know myself, this is probably one of the games where I had a lot of turnovers, maybe my most in the playoffs. I’ve just got to do a better job of finding my teammates and being aware of the guards coming in the paint for strips.

As a team we’ve just got to do better with not turning the ball over. That’s how they got going on the offensive end, because of our turnovers, and it gave them the game tonight.

My boy C-Lee had a layup right at the rim, but just missed it. That was a tough blow for us, but it shouldn’t have ever come down to that. We don’t turn the ball over as much as we did and we don’t even need the lob play there in that situation.

Their defensive plan against me in the post has been really good. Phil Jackson is a smart, smart coach. I’m not saying the coach from Cleveland isn’t, but the way they’re using their bigs on the defensive end has been a little tricky for me. But it’s something that I’m learning from. Their bigs are doing a great job of forcing me to other the bigs. It seems like I beat one guy and there’s another one waiting on me or the guards are always there digging down and trying to strip the ball.

I just have to trust my teammates and allow those guys to hit shots, and that will open everything up for me. But I’ve also just got to do some more work on the offensive end, running, going to the glass and trying to get points that way.

We’ve just got to go home now and take care of business. The Lakers did a good job of protecting their home, and now it’s our turn to do the same thing. We’ve been in some tough situations and we’ve always been good about coming back. We’ve just got to fight our way out and I know that’s what we’ll do again this time.

This is going to be a long series and we’re a long way from done. Game 3 is all we’re thinking about, so let’s go get one win and really protect our homecourt the way the Lakers did. We still know we can do this. We tweak a few things here and there, we’ll be right back in this series before ya’ll know it.

PEACE OUT, HOMIES. — DWIGHT

My daughter just got home from a 8 day missionary trip to Honduras…she said they left the feeding station at the dump, were riding a bus back to the compound when they passed a sort of sports bar that had the game on. The kids were shouting to the driver, ALTO, ALTO! so they could see the score…He would only slow down, not stop, so they had to leave as we went into overtime. What you do matters even over there, in the poorest sections of the world! Thought you’d like to know ;-)

  2. First of all, sorry your team lose to the Lakers again. But keep your head held high and fight like a gladiator baby, to the death. You’ll get the job done, no doubt! I’m actually a Piston fan, but sense Joe Dumars gave our floor general away to Denver and stuck us with that… well I have to keep it holy, I’m a christian woman. Well our record this year and the chaos on and off the court said it all! Back injury? Yeah right! So out of the teams that were left, I chose to root for yours. Mainly because I like the way You personally come across as a well liked young man and 2ND because I wanted your team to beat Boston and Cleveland. Well I hope Your team crushes the Lakers tonight as well as the rest of the games in the finals. You can do it! Your faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and You can leap tall buildings in a single bound!

    BE BLESSED. LOIS

Yo D-12, the Lakers were lucky in L.A. but it looks like the Magic Machine is on full steam, like is said earlier. Do to the Lakers what you did to the Cavs and the Celtics. D-12 go out there and do the damn thang.

I am a big Spurs fan and it couldn’t be more satisfying than to see you guys beat the Lakers. You are where you are right now because of the hardwork that you put on it and you deserved it. Well, there’s still hope but you must do it as a team the way you did it when you beat your last three opponents in the playoffs. Believe in your teammates as they believe in you. Believe me….you can beat these guys. Kobe may be the best player in the world but you can still beat them. You are the NBA’s best center of today! This is basketball…
And btw, don’t listen to whatever negative thing Shaq says about you. He may just be jealous that you might accomplish something that he wasn’t able to do back when he was in Orlando. Good luck!

  5. Josh says:

    D-12,
Hey man, don’t rely on home court for the W. Boston and Philly did that and look what we did to them. The fans will be there cheering like crazy for you guys, but the Lakers are too good to just come in here and lay down for you cause of the home croud. Remember that they almost beat you during the regular season here, so they will not be worried the least bit. Come focused to dominate, and let the croud push you even higher. Please don’t let this team lose this game!

    I still believe in magic…:)

  7. J the Drafter says:

Hey, Dwight. I found another commentator that might help. I’m sure that you already know much of this stuff, and that Stan Van Gundy has gone over whatever you happened to miss. I just thought though that if this could help, then I wanted to show it to you. Here’s the article: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/chris_ballard/06/09/nba.finals/1.html

Good luck going into Game 3. I’ll be rooting for you guys.

  8. Kathy says:

    Dwight and Magic,
There is no doubt in my mind that you guys CAN beat the lakers. Take care of business, work together as a team, take care of the ball. Trust and believe not only in your heart; but on the court too that YOU CAN do it. You are BIGGER and BETTER and you do have a secret weapon; Your Father in heaven wants YOU to win.
Dwight, don’t get distracted by all the nonsense; because that’s all it is NONSENSE.
I hear from a lot of all these so call experts they don’t expect us to win at all. but, they don’t have the last word; My heavenly Father does. TRUST HIM.
Rally the troops, tell them there is no room for excuses; they have to believe in their abilities. David believed that with God’s strenght he could defeat Goliath. Lakers are beatable.
YOU CAN DO IT!! GO MAGIC!!!!!! SI SE PUEDE!!!

  9. J the Drafter says:

Wow, I haven’t been deliberately trawling for stuff to help you; I know that preparing for games is your job. Still, this guys had two pieces of advice for Stan Gundy here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/195581-how-im-going-to-save-the-orlando-magic
Keep in mind, of course, that this writer might not have given due credit to Kobe’s supporting cast; they’re alot more effective than the Cavs’ non-star players.

On matters pertaining more directly to you, we all know you have a long journey ahead before you become one of the all-time greats. But for now, maybe learning one single new trick will help throw the tough defense you’re receiving. Don’t get me wrong, I still think your most powerful weapon on a double team is to pass out to your teammates, but if you can get a new quiver in your arsenal for Game 4 or 5 (because one day is not enough time to get the proficiency at a trick you’d need to use it on the court) then it might make the Lakers’ defensive job harder and your job easier for a game or two.

  10. J-Low says:

get mad like u did in game 6 against the cavs! stomp them lakers man y’all can do it!!

  11. Josh says:

Who will be the one lying on the court holding the trophy up after the series is over? Don’t let it be Kobe.

  12. Alyssa says:

“It’s My Time”- Fabulous. Great song for the situation right now. Go get em tonight!

  13. Josh says:

Even our home sports radio station employs a Laker fan in Mike Tuck! Yuck!!! I don’t want to have to listen to him talk Lakers for the next month!!! Come on Dwight, you can do it!!

  14. Chris - Orlando says:

    Dominate.

P.S. dont let Lee take it so hard, he never should have been in that situation.

  15. Kathy says:

Shake if off and let’s go for 3 straight wins and come back home to win the final game.
    Go Magic!

  16. Andrena says:

I am anxiously awaiting tonights Game 3. You and the Magic Team have my prayers. Know that your fans are rooting for you and pulling for our Magic Team. You guys are the best. Stay Focused, Death Grip the ball to avoid turnovers and Play with Fire in your heart. Much Love, D. You Can Do This!!! GO MAGIC!!

  17. Christina says:

D, don’t give up! I hope you are praying and meditating in the Bible. Having your mind right with God will help you have your mind right on the court. Start confessing your blessings and what you want. The Word of God says that you can have what you say. I’m confessing for you that the championship is yours in Jesus name. You’re a good guy and I believe that you deserve this! God bless you and Goooooooo Orlando!!!!!
