Yo, what up, world??? Not sure how many of you guys saw the game last night in Detroit, but let me tell you that was one to forget. We lost for the first time all season, the first time since the Finals, I guess. But it was how we lost that frustrated me the most.
I was on the floor for 16 minutes and fouled out!!! Let me say that again: 17 minutes and six fouls!!! How can that be, ya’ll? It was crazy. They called me for a charge on a flop, a push off when the defender was on me and two fouls on blocked shots.
Man, 16 minutes is a lifetime low for me I think. I haven’t played that little in a game since I was 10 years old in pee-wee ball. It was crazy from the start of the game all the way to when I fouled out with about 4 minutes to play.
What really bothers me is they are letting guys hammer me at one end of the floor, yet I’m being called for everything. All of those hits take a toll on my body after a while.
As for my shoulder, it’s really sore right now and it really hurts when guys are hanging on me and pulling on my arms. The trainers have done all of the tests and they say everything is fine, but it’s still hurting me a little. They said my shoulders are plenty strong enough around the injury, but it’s like a bruise and will take some time to get fully better.
The game in Detroit was ugly, but the good thing about the NBA is we get another crack at it tonight at home against Phoenix. It’s not like we were going to go 82-0 – although it did cross my mind a few times!!! We’re not going to be perfect every night, and I guess understanding that helps me deal with some of the frustration I’ve been dealing with.
See you guys in Orlando at the arena tonight. And the rest of you out there across the country and around the world, take care. Holla back at ya boy.

Bring back the replacement refs!!!!!
yea i was pretty upset to see them calling all of the fouls on you. its like what they used to do to shaq. just keep on playing your game dwight! there are some really bad refs out there that will call em just cuz you are big and they are smaller. being bigger isn’t always an advantage…. although its an advantage for you! hope the shoulder heals. try not to get too many rebounds against phx tonight… they guy i’m playing in fantasy has you on his team. haha i keep trying to get you but still hasn’t happened. maybe next year? well i’m out. keep up the hard work. you’re someone to look up to. respect,
justin
Dwight, I’m a life long Piston’s fan, but you’ve been my favorite center in the NBA since you’re arrival. I hope your shoulder heals up quickly, but getting banged up is just part of sports. Just ask Will Bynum.
I hate it when the officials decide the outcome of the game. i guess they knew that detroit didnt stand much of a chance against us(the magic). well at least you were smart enough not to go all Brandon Spikes on them and start fouling them back like they foul you. good job and keep your head up big fella. just one more thing, why couldnt yall be at home this last weekend? im 33 years old and we took my daughter to Disney this weekend for her first time. i was hoping to be able to catch yall playing!!
Ray
Go Magic!!!!!
I hear you, bro.
It’s so noticeable how unfair the refs are to you!
No worries, we still love you Dwight!
Hope your shoulder gets better…you definitely don’t deserve the unfairness on the court!
Yo dwight keep your chin up you’re still the best ambassador for the NBA cos you always play hard and actually being a good sportsman which is actually in short supply in the NBA. Just keep your eye on the goal and have fun – you’ll get that ring. We got your back here in England! Go magic!
Dwight, do you realize how much you yourself push off to get an offensive rebound? Or better yet, when you drive to the midle of the lane you swing your elbow/arm around the defender to gt by him? Or charge in with your shoulder and get away with it?
I think for once, you got a taste of your own medicine
Still, I enjoy watching you play and am rooting for the Magic to make it to the finals
I know you don’t flop but the knife cuts both ways, you gotta do what you gotta do! Good luck on tonights game.
Dwight, after 50+ responses, there’s not much left to say. Just know that your fans saw exactly what wasn’t and what WAS BEYOND your control. Inconsistent reffing is just going to prime you guys for the Playoffs–you know how that goes. So go get one win at a time and you’ll be more than capable of handling all the BS when it counts most. BE MAGIC!!!
soo i cant lie and say i didnt think yall were gonna go 82-0 crazy right but i jus believe you guys can do ANYTHING!!!
don’t worry bout the game EVERYBODY has their days
next game play HARDER BETTER FASTER STRONGER
MAGIC!!!!!!
Aye Dwight I seen the game on league pass last night at one point in the game the pistons went to the free throw line 16 times while you guys only went twice. The ref’s really suck last night, all the calls where calls shouldn’t have been called. I could tell all the players were frustrated. Hope y’all come back tonight with a win!
I hear your frustration, and I feel your pain. Hopefully you guys can shake the loss off and get a W tonight. Can’t wait until Orlando plays the Wizards in DC. Although I am a Wizards fan, I am going to cheer for your team. I hope I don’t get put out of the Verizon Center. Good luck, DH!
Yea I Saw It…But Hey Thats Just 1 Game No1 Is Perfect! I STILL LOVE YOU AND THE MAGICS!!
Maybe the refs were from the burbs.
Both you and your teammates need to retaliate. If an opponent fouls you, an Orlando player must answer. Hacking you will become a lot less appetizing if teams know that they’re going to be smacked themselves. It would make things tough on you, but the alternative is to allow players to rough you up until you either get injured or retaliate anyway without holding anything back.
Hey, Dwight, I really hope you get better, the fouls weren’t fair. But hang in there!! You’ll hop back and start dominating again in no timE!! Cyeaa!
HAHA… True, true…
But Bynum got his eye gouged and yet no call?
He got roughed up bad and yet came back in no time.
Dwight I love you! I am a Piston fan tho and we always beat you nothing personal tho:) I will always be your fan
you will win tonight!!!
Way to stay out of foul trouble tonight Dwight, even though they were still flopping on you. You and the rest of the team tore it up tonight, I’m glad I could see it in person!
Big win tonight against the Suns. Shake last night game off. I seen Vince Carter talking to u after one of the offensive fouls. Maybe some input from different view! Remember defense wins rings. Thats what I seen pick up after the half.
Like my old coach you to say, “Every now and then…you gotta pop one of’em to get’em off you…lol
Are you seriously complaining about how YOU get fouls called on you? Are you serious? Dude walk a minute in Greg Oden’s shoes. That kid had 5 fouls called on him before he even played an NBA game. I do agree with you that you (and many other centers in this league) get held on and pulled on all the time and there’s no calls for you. But you know what, you’re a big strong freakin guy. And when someone hits you and you don’t flinch, it’s not the refs fault, you just don’t look like you got fouled because you take it so well.
Seriously man, go watch some tape of other centers in the NBA and you’ll realize you need to shut up. You get so many damn calls for you, whether it’s not being called on a travel (like your spin move the other day where you took 4 steps but no one noticed and just cared you dunked it), or push off, or hell you stand in the key more than any human ever and never get called for it.
You need to grow up and quit crying on your blog. Like I said, go watch some tape and you’ll realize just how good you have it Dwight. At least you don’t get fucked over like Greg Oden everyday. Quit your crying and play some ball.
I’m from Australia and a new Magic fan since seeing NBA on TV for the first time during the finals. All I want to say is that guys are hanging off you because they know if they dont you will dominate everyone, every night!!! You should pity those guys, cause they are obviously scared of getting posterized, or you dropping another 20-20 game on their asses!! Next time you hacked you should laugh and take it as a compliment that they are that scared. Then dunk over them and let em know all about it!! Keep dominating, coz thats why we all watch.
I know everyone and their mother has already tried to tell you how to shoot your free throws. But when you bend your knees on the charity stripe I noticed that you don’t spring with the ball in one fluid motion. Granted you are a very tall guy but the reason for bending the knees is for a fluid steady motion from your toes to your fingertips. Loosen up and be fluid and gentle. I’m not in the NBA so you can’t take me too seriously, but give it a try, just be fluid and believe in your shot. You could be the most dominant and effective player to ever play the game if you could crush it at the line. You are amazing, keep playing hard night after night, look where you have taken us so far.

Dwight are you OK now?
I hope you will be better soon.
I think you’re going to be fined for this post. I don’t think it’s right, but I think you’ll be fined. I’d love to see more of these kinds of posts from professional athletes, but I think the nba is going to clamp down on this kind of thing.
good luck this season. I was for you guys all the way all season long last year.
You are the best!I love you!
On the other side to support you!

we fans saw it all Dwight, its so unfair. I feel good sportsmanship entails fouling but not being mean. What goes around comes around, when we win a championship those teams can kiss our a–. We get another crack at those Pistons Friday

Like I said earlier, you have teammates willing and able to lay the smackdown on anyone who’s overly aggressive with you. Let Matt, or Gortat, or Brandon, or Anthony, or even Jameer, J.J. or Vince respond to fouling that’s over the line. No one except some Pistons fans or some really idiotic media people would have objected to Matt bowling Stuckey over. If players know that there’s a cost to striking you, they’ll be less inclined to hammer you. At the very least, it should keep your opponents from yanking you to the ground.
Hey Dwight, me and my bro are comin to see you all in OKC Sunday. We’ll be decked out in Magic blue. Show us some love if you see us. Peace.
Congratulations on the game last night. I’m glad we won, though we still have work to do as a team. I wish we could have blown the Pistons out. I want our defense to improve because that will make us a more effective team. Wish Ryan well for me.
[...] Beyond the raw stats, Wallace is doing a lot of the little things that can’t be measured. A week ago he harassed Dwight Howard–who officially has 2 inches and 25 pounds on him, but in reality an inch or two and a 5-10 pounds more–into his worst game of the young season, helping limit the big man to just 8 points and 5 boards before fouling out in the fourth quarter. That sent a bitter Howard to his blog looking for pity. [...]
Hey Big D,
That’s not right that on top of the crummy fouls you got called with that now they are fining you 15k for blogging about it. We all could see that the officiating looked a little lopsided that night. I think we should start fining the refs for bad calls if they are going to fine players for talking about it. Keep on being you and everything else will be fine.
Peace Out,
D
FREE SPEECH FOR ALL! DOWN WITH NBA CENSORSHIP!!!!
I read that you were fined for voicing your constitutionally given rights to freedom of speech. I understand the league doesn’t want officials criticized by players, but I don’t understand how the league can override our first amendment rights. We have people who can criticize our leaders, including the President of the United States, and not be jailed, ticketed or fined. And yet when a player has comments about the refs which are seen by the league as negative, fines are issued. Just doesn’t make sense. However, it does make (BIG) cents for the league.

I wasn’t aware that joining the NBA meant you had to give up your first amendment rights!
You are right though—Didn’t see this game but they refs do let the big guys take a whopping in the post and god forbid they twitch on defense.
Bring back the temps!
I know u cant respond to this but the 15K for this blog is BS!
Why not fine the refs for making bad calls? The refs totally disrupt the flow of the games most of the time.
The league is so one sided in favor of the refs. I never heard of a ref getting fined after making bad calls. That rule should be added soon.
