Heyyyyy world!!!! What up, what????
We got a little revenge on those young Thunder cats last night. We had a really good game defending and moving the ball and we wanted to play well for Jameer Nelson, who was out after having knee surgery. It’s crazy with all the stuff we’ve been through already with the injuries and the flu, but I keep telling myself that it’s early in the year and it’s better that it happen now than later before the playoffs.
Playing OKC last night, I got to see my guy, Kevin Durant, some last night. We have the same agent (Goodwin Sports Managment) and we’ve become pretty good friends through the years at all-star games and when we were training for the Olympic team.
Me and Kevin used to talk a lot, but it’s been tough so far this season because we’ve been so busy with our schedules. We still talk a little bit on Twitter (check KD out on Twitter) and see how each other is doing. He’s a really good dude and has such a good head on his shoulders.
He’s pretty much better now than he was last season and so much better than he was his rookie year so I don’t have to say a lot to him. That kid is on his way to being great and he’s gonna lead the league in scoring real soon.
I try to help out as many of the young guys in the NBA as I can the same way the veterans helped me out back when I was a skinny 18-year-old kid straight out of high school. Guys like Tony Battie and Grant Hill and even Rasheed Wallace back when he was on the Pistons took time out to give me advice about being a pro, and that’s something I’ll never forget.
I was kind of a mentor last season to Courtney Lee – even though he’s older than me!!! How crazy is that??? I kind of took him under my wing and he blew up and had a great rookie season for us. We became really good friends and I miss that dude now that he’s playing up in Jersey.
Even though I’m just in my sixth year and still pretty much a young guy, I feel like I’ve been through a lot already in the NBA. It’s on me to share that stuff with the other young guys in the NBA and be a mentor when I can. I gotta help them the way the vets helped me a few years ago.
Well, we got a big one Friday vs. Boston, so we’ll need to play our best ball to win that game. With Boston, I really think it’s all about defense and not giving up easy shots. We’ve got a lot of weapons and they do too, so the team that gets the most stops is probably going to win it.
I’m out of here for now. Ya’ll be good!!!

Hi Dwight, by following you I’m finding out you are a caring person.
Love You
Inez Bottoson
Great attitude Dwight and I bet they never would have thought that the young skinny 18 yr old would grow up to be the BEAST on the court that u r..now they gotta watch out for u..lol But real talk its good that you are taking that time with them..players like you are wat makes the NBA so great.. Love Ya and Keep up the good work Boo!
It’s nice that you would take the time to try and give back what was given to you. Maybe help them avoid some of the rookie mistakes you made. Show’s that you are truly a standup guy. GQ #1 STANDUP!…..;)
Dwight,
You are the man! I really enjoy all the ways you show that you’re more than just a great basketball player. You’re the reason I call myself a Magic fan!
Hi Dwight, thats great you mentor the young guys in the leaugue..Even though you are only 23 going on 24…But you played for 6 years. If your good and you can play straight from High School thats a blessing..Why go to college, thats how I feel. If you want to get a degree you can always go back to College or take online Classes..but to be able to get that NBA experience straight from High School is better because your getting Professional advance from the Pros..Just got to say you guys look older than your age…I guess its because of the wear and tear of the your bodies and the rigorous schedules that you all endure…With all that Traveling and Back to Back games I say you guys deserve the money that you all make because its Great entertainment for us to watch you play this sport but you all sacrifice time with your family, friends and etc to play this sport…so keep up the good work and be a great mentor to the younger guys…
Right its gonna be a good game Friday, Boston is gonna be a tough team to beat. Just work on that Defense and you all have to stop them from getting shots…Hopefully you want get into Foul Trouble and you will play through the whole game…Have a Great Game..We will be rooting for you all…
We Love U…

Dwight I know you’ll be a good mentor both on and off the court.
So humble!! I’m so glad you’re a part of the Magic–you guys continue to impress. When/if Nelson comes back though, you’ve got to remind him that you guys play your best when you push the ball and run–it more than showed last night. Great win…I hope y’all beat the Celtics unmercifully on Friday!!!
Yess Dwight.. I like your personality. I want yall to win that ship this year. Letss Go Magicccc !!!!
Please tell otis to get AI, it would be so cool to have 5 all-stars on the team, just give him like a 10 week contract or something
You the Man D! Get the job done in Beantown!
Hey Dwight, beat CELTICS!
Hello dwight u know ur my idol in NBA keep the MAGIC wins everyday and i hope the MAGIC can win the FINALS now….
Good luck against the Celtics. I hope to watch that game. Treat it like a grudge match. Going into Boston against a healthy Kevin Garnett, while down Jameer, is a huge chance to prove Orlando’s supremacy. Make sure the entire team understands that this game will send a statement about our ability. Play defense, drive to the hole, be patient even if you get hit with calls you don’t agree with. Keep fighting no matter what. Don’t ever back down, whether your down big or up alot. Hold your leads. FIGHT. Be prepared to fight.
dwight youre awesome man! great blog and youre doing a great job in the league, greetings from SWEDEN
Pretty awesome game against the Celtics last night. Wow, Carter! Wow!! Going to one of these sports bars in Orlando any night it’s game night is really fun. I was at the Ale House. Everyone’s paying attention to what’s happening and cheering and jeering with every play. Guess the team wouldn’t ever have a chance to see that part of their effect since you all are doing the playing ;0) But it’s real cool how the city comes out in support all over any night it’s game night. There’s always got to be that one fan of the other team. So satisfying when you all win! Shuts them up, just like when a rival crowd goes quiet when you all score a three!
Read an article today about your discussion with Coach Van Gundy in the Sentinel. I was really, really excited when I finished reading it. The things the article reported that were said are the things that show the potential for unbridled growth. That’s thrilling, you guys are already so good. Communication everywhere is vital to growth, and thanks for being team leader and addressing this in a very mature and conscientious fashion. You all are doing everything right, and open communication builds trust. That will translate to trust and KNOWING on the court.
Cheers then.
Thanks for the great game.
What better qualities can a person have? sense of humor, caring, humble. Your the whole package. keep it up, a lot of people look up to you :]
Melanie.
