Shout out to my Chinese fans on RenRen

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Heeeyyy Woorrrrrrrrlllld!!! Hope all ya’ll got to see our big win against Boston Thursday night on TNT. We didn’t play well start to finish, but we just kept hanging around all night and wouldn’t let them break our will. I really felt like we kind of grew up in that game because of the way we kept fighting and won it at the end.

I just wanted to give a shout-out today to all of my fans in China on RenRen and let you know that, yes, this is the real D-12!!! We’re starting up a new social networking page that will have photos, fan question-and-answer segments and videos from me specifically for all of my homies in China. My RenRen page is at http://howard.renren.com.

I’ve been to China four times and I’ve got to say that it seems like ya’ll know more about basketball over there than we do in America. I love going over there every summer and being around the people because they are so humble, respectful and nice.

And they follow the NBA over there like crazy!!! They can tell me stats and things about the league that I don’t even know and I’m playing in the NBA!!!

I remember this past summer when I was over there in China on our adidas trip and there were three or four fans who followed me everywhere that I went. It was like they knew where I was going every day. They were there before I was there and when I was finished they were already off to my next event.

That’s the kind of support that just blows me away and means so much to me. I can’t give enough love to the people of China because they’ve always been good to me whether it was going there for the Olympics or on a promotional tour for adidas.

I know, too, that all of my fans in China are a big reason why I’ve had so much success in the all-star voting. I set the record for votes last year and I was third this year, and I know my fanbase in China has a lot to do with that. That’s why I always make it a point to go to China and show my love for the good people over there.

Well, hope you guys enjoy the new page on RenRen. I’ll keep on trying to give you updates throughout the season and during the All-Star Weekend that is coming up. We got another tough back-to-back coming up Saturday and Sunday against Atlanta and Detroit, so all ya’ll out there pray for us and wish us luck.

What’s G?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Heyyyyyy worrrlllddd!!! What’s everybody up to these days?

We’ve got a big game against the Celtics tonight. We beat them up in Boston earlier this year and they made us look back at our place back on Christmas. TNT is in the house tonight, so it will be a good chance for us to show everybody that we’re back on track and playing Magic basketball.

They haven’t made the official announcement yet, but I’ve been told that I can tell you guys a little secret: I’m a part of Gatorade’s team now!!! Ya boy is going to be a spokesman for G-2 and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Gatorade had a camera crew at our practice on Wednesday and they were filming a couple of commercials. I had a lot of fun with it, and they did a lot of shots of us (me and VC) drinking Gatorade while we talked to the media after practice.

Gatorade has signed me, D-Wade, K.G. and Kevin Durant to work with the company. We will be doing ads for the new G-series of drinks. They will have three drinks called Prime (pre-game energy), Performance (the normal G2) and Recovery (lots of protein for after a workout or game). I gotta say, they’re good!!!

Some of the new Gatorade spots have already started coming out and the big splash will come in a couple of weeks at the All-Star Game in Dallas. (By the way, big ups to all of my fans out there for helping me become an all-star again. I’m still amazed that I have that many fans out there voting for me. Your votes and your love mean so much to me.)

So ya’ll will have to be watching for me in those new Gatorade commercials. I’m putting all of my acting experience to good use. My movie, Valentine’s Day, is about to come out too, so ya’ll will have to tell me what you think about my role on the big screen.

I forgot to mention to ya’ll when we were in L.A. last week that I did a photo shoot for Christian Audigier to wear some of the Ed Hardy clothes. I got to meet Mr. Audigier last summer in L.A. and told him what a big fan of his designs I am. He is just the coolest guy on the planet.

Wish us luck against the Celtics tonight. We owe those guys big time for how they beat us on Christmas Day. We went through a little rough patch, but I think we’re back on the right track now. We’re starting games with more energy, our Fantastic Four of Jameer, Rashard, VC and me are meshing better and our bench is really playing well. We just gotta get that championship swagger back, and I think it will come tonight against the Celtics.

I’m outta here. Yuuuuuuuuuaaaa!!!

To all of my fans: Thank You!!!

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Heeyyyyyy worrrrrrlldd!!! We got a real good win Wednesday night against Indiana, getting off to a really good start and then finishing off the game with great energy and effort. That’s the hardest we’ve played in a while and if we’ll just play hard every night we’re going to win a lot of games.

With that game out of the way, I want to talk to you guys about something that is really important to me – my fans!!! The NBA announced on Wednesday the list of the most popular jerseys around the league and my Magic jersey jumped all the way up to third place.

And tonight they will announce the starters for the all-star game, and I’ve got to thank you guys again for helping me start in the game for the third straight year. (I did a photo shoot on Wednesday for the all-star game and the blue and black uniforms that they had me in were really tight, ya’ll!!!)

To me, it’s just incredible that I have that many fans out there buying my jersey and voting for me as an all-star. Really, it’s a blessing and an honor and I appreciate every fan and every person who has bought my jersey and has been a fan of mine. It’s a real honor and I just want to thank everybody. It’s not something I thought would happen, but it’s a real honor. I want to continue to become a better player and a better person for you guys.

I can’t thank all of my fans out there enough for supporting me and one of my biggest things is giving back as much as I can. I just try to show my fans how much they mean to me. That’s one reason I always try to go the extra mile and interact with the fans as much as I can regardless of what arena we’re in or what city that we’re in.

I’ve tried to use my website, Twitter, Supefan, Facebook and the other outlets to allow my fans to get close to me. See, I really think basketball is just a platform for my life. Basketball is one of the most important things in my life, but it’s not the only thing. It’s what you do off the court that matters the most in life. There have been a lot of good basketball players through the years, but they are sometimes forgotten because they don’t do much off the court.

I always want my fans to know how much I respect them and appreciate what they do for me. When things are tough out there on the court, it helps me reach down a little deeper when I know all of the fans that I have out there supporting me through the good times and the bad times.

So again, I just want to thank ya’ll for your votes, buying up my jerseys and supporting me in everything I do. Really, it’s a dream come true to see fans in my jersey and people yelling for me at games.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Yuuuuuuaaaaaa.

Honoring Dr. King Today

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Heyyyyyy wooooorrrrrld!!! How are you guys doing? I know it’s a Monday, but I’m excited and pumped up for tonight’s game against the Lakers. We really need this game and really need to get back on track. Really, it doesn’t even matter that we’re playing the Lakers and that it’s a Finals rematch because this game for us is just all about us getting ourselves right again.

But the biggest thing about today is that it is the celebration of Martin Luther King’s life and legacy. It’s such an honor that the NBA picked us to play today because this day means so much to me and my life.

Everything that I have been blessed with in my life, I owe it all to Dr. King. He fought for what was right in America and did it in a non-violent way. He brought about tremendous change by standing up for the beliefs of others who didn’t have a voice as strong as his.

Last January I got to go to the inauguration of President Obama and I couldn’t help but think that that was the spot where Dr. King gave his famous speech. I still get chills thinking about it and every time I hear that speech it almost brings tears to my eyes. Growing up in A-T-L I got to hear plenty about Dr. King and his impact and I just want to use this day to say, “Thanks’’ to him.

We’ve had two really good days of practice out here in LA to work on some stuff and I think you’ll see a different Magic team tonight. For us it’s just about playing with energy and effort. And we’ve got to get my guys that I call “The Fantastic Four’’ to playing better. We’ve been getting off to poor starts and it’s up to us four all-stars and leaders to clear that up.

Our practices in LA were kind of weird because we worked out at the Lakers practice facility. If you’ve never seen it, they have championship banners up all around the walls, including the one they got for beating us in June. And up in one corner of the building they have a window that has all 10 of the golf trophies on display. Trust me, I knew that they were up there but I tried not to look at them because it just hurt too much.

A lot of people have asked me how long it took me to get over losing in the NBA Finals, but I don’t know if you ever get over it until you win a ring. I know I’m still not over it because I catch myself thinking how close we were to winning it all. People don’t understand how I felt just playing in the NBA Finals because that was a life-long dream. But then you get so close and lose and it’s like losing something in your life that you cherish the most.

Well, I think we’ll play well tonight against the Lakers. We’ve just got to get ourselves back right and we’ll be OK. A game this against a great team can be just what we need.

Be back home soon. Remember Dr. King today!!! Ya’ll be good. Yuuuuuuaaaaaa.
