Chauncey Billups got us again!

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Heyyyyyyyy worrrrrrld!!! If you guys watched last night’s game in Denver you know how I’m feeling today. I went from a great night in Sacramento to a poor one in Denver. Those guys did a good job of mixing it up on me and they have some of the best post defenders in the league there in Denver.

But that second half was kind of embarrassing because it was almost like we stopped playing when we turned the ball over and they started making shots. We have to learn to fight harder through that stuff.

That was one of the toughest back-to-backs in the league by playing in Sacramento, then flying three hours to Denver and losing an hour and then playing an elite team like the Nuggs. But we can’t be using that stuff as an excuse, especially if we’re a team that’s talking about winning a championship.

Man, what’s up with Chauncey Billups always having to kill the Magic? With Chauncey, man we’re supposed to be a part of The Brotherhood with adidas and he should give the Magic a game or two every now and then. I don’t know what it is about CB, but that cat always plays really good against us. Hopefully, we’ll see those guys in The Finals and he’ll be off his game next time.

People out West don’t wanna give them their props, but I see Denver as an elite team. I like the way they play. They give anybody matchup problems with their bigs and they really get the ball to ‘Melo and Chauncey. They are a tough team. I loved watching them play last season and I really thought we were going to see them in The Finals. Oh well, there’s always this year.

As for us, we’re still in this little offensive funk because teams are taking away our high-low plays and our ISO plays. I know this is gonna sound weird, but I actually like that everything is a little harder now for us and we’ve got to work for everything. Last year, we sorta caught people by surprise, but now they know what we want to do.

Trust me when I say it, but this little phase that we’re going through, it will just make us tougher in the long run. I truly believe that. We havde too much talent here and we’re a close team. It may take a while, but it will come for us. And when it does, we’ll be one of the league’s tightest teams again.

We actually get a day off in Portland today and I think that will be good for us. Five more days on this long trip and games against the Blazers and Lakers still to go. We’re hanging tough and hope you Magic fans back in Orlando and all over the country (and the world too!!!) will stick with us.

Peace out, ya’ll. Yuuuuuaaaaaa!!!!

Still working on my jumper

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Heeyyyyyyy worrrrrrrrld…What are ya’ll up to these days? We’re on the road again. We were in Sac yesterday and are in Denver today. This trip is a long one because after that we still go to Portland for a Friday game and then we play the Lakers in La-La land next week.

Not sure if you guys saw our game last Saturday against the Hawks or last night against the Kings, but I actually tried a few jump shot. And let me say that I was robbed against Atlanta. The ball circled the rim a couple of time and thought about going in before it rimmed out. I missed both of my tries against Sac, but hey, I’m going to keep taking those shots.

Against Atlanta, it was at the end of the shot clock, so I had no choice but to jack it up. J-Will told me after the game he passed it back to me because he wanted to see me shoot a jumper. I shoot it all the time in practice and I guess my teammates just wanted me to fire one up in the game and see what happens.

Last night, I took two of them in the first quarter. And even though I didn’t make them, I think it drew the defense up for later in the game and gave me some driving chances.

Everybody on our teams wants to see me shooting more jump shots, from Otis Smith to all of my teammates and coaches. It just another way for me to score when teams are trapping me inside and sending double-teams at me.

I worked really hard on my shot this summer. I shot hundreds and hundreds of jumpers off pick and pops this summer and got really comfortable with the shot. I’m sure some of you guys have seen some of the YouTube videos of my shooting, and you could see that I was making most of them.

Otis, especially wants me to shoot a lot more. I shoot every day in practice. It’s just going to be on me. I just have to get confidence in that shot. I know I can shoot it. I can shoot it by myself, I can shoot it in practice but we’re going to have to get that same shot in the game.

My biggest obstacle, you see, is that I really hate to miss shots. I take pride in the fact that I have a high shooting percentage. You do that and it means that you are an efficient player.

So I just have to get over that concern that I might miss a few shots along the way. I really think adding that shot, like my coach Patrick Ewing, will make me better and make us better as a team. Like they say, the more weapons that you have, the more dangerous you are in a battle.

Well, I’m gonna blow outta here. Wish us luck on this roadtrip. It’s a really tough trip, and we want to get back on track. We started a long winning streak last season with a 4-0 run on the West Coast and I’m hoping we can do it again. We got a good win against the Kings last night, so we’re off to a good start so far.

Auctioning Off My Stuff for a Good Cause

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Heyyyyyyy wooooorrrrld!!! How is everybody out there??? I know it’s cold, cold, cold. This has been a crazy winter already.

My Magic are in DC tonight to play the Wizards and we’re focused on getting a W and getting back on track. Then, we turn around and play the Hawks again on Saturday night. We’ve had so many back-to-backs lately that it’s just been crazy.

After that, we’re home one day (ONE DAY!!!) and then we head to the West Coast for the longest roadtrip of the season. It’s a crazy life, but it’s my life as a NBA player. It’s a tough stretch we’re in, but we’ve got to fight through it.

I wanted to tell you guys today about a project that some of my friends are working on and hopefully we can raise some money for charity. We are selling a lot of my game-worn and game-used shoes, jerseys and warm-up shirts on e-Bay. The money that we gets from the stuff will go to my foundation, the Dwight D. Howard Foundation, to help kids go to camp next summer. We give out scholarships to some of the kids to come to the camps in Orlando and Atlanta who might not be able to afford it otherwise.

So we need you guys to check out the stuff and see if you would be interested in any of it to buy. It’s going to a good cause and I really think you guys might be interested in the stuff we’re selling on there. I know people go crazy when I throw my shoes and jerseys into the crowd. If you’ve never gotten one of those, here is your chance.

Our seller’s name on e-Bay is DwightsStuff12. Here is the list of stuff that we have available for now:

Commander T-shirt (2)
Game One Finals Edition (right shoe)
Game Two Finals Edition (right Shoe)
Game Three Finals Edition (right shoe)
Game Four Finals Edition (right shoe)
Game Worn AST TS Commander (right shoe)
Dwight Howard Autographed Jersey Black and Blue AST NBA BOUNCE ARTI (single shoe)
Black and White TS BOUNCE COMMANDER (3 single right shoes)

OK, there it is. Some really tight gear if I don’t say so myself. Ya’ll check it out and put your bids in because I think the auction runs out next week. Hit me back on here and let me know what you think about the gear that we have available.

Help us out here because the money is going to a good cause. And make sure you watch us take on the Wizards tonight. Yuuuuaaaa

We’re sticking together!

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Heyyyyyy woooorldd!!!! Things aren’t going so well these past few days for the Magic and we’re all taking it hard. These last two games against Indiana and Toronto have been really difficult to take because we put a lot into those games and we’re just so frustrated now on the offensive end of the floor.

Not the losing, but I’m actually glad we’re going through this stretch where we have to fight each and every night. But I know deep in my heart that success is right around the corner for us.

As a team, we’re doing the things in the gym every day to be better, but we’re struggling in the games. Like I told the guys the other night in Indiana, I know we’re going through this phase, but we have to remain together and continue to fight hard. We’ll overcome this situation.

Nobody wants to go through this right now. We all worked extremely hard over the summer because we were expecting great things out of this team. But we’ve lost a couple of games and we’re not playing as well as we’ve expected to play. But our team has to forget about the expectations and what everybody is saying about us. We’ve got to continue to stick together and not allow anybody to separate us. We can’t let anybody get us off track of our mission, which is to win a championship.

This is a tough stretch for us, but we’re going to fight though it. I look around the locker room and see guys who are hoping that we can just one day have a breakout offensively. We’ve missed shots and everybody is down, but we just have to continue to fight.

This is a different team than the team than the one we had last season. We have to get that through our minds and everybody else does too. You can’t expect us to do those same things because it’s a totally different team. But one thing I will say is that we’re together and all of the situations that have happened on the court and in the locker room we’re going to remain together.

I’m going to make sure I continue to do my part. Even if I’m having nights where I’m missing shots or turning the ball over, I’m just trying to help guys anyway that I can.

We talk to each other and we’re a close team. We understand there are different ways to approach different situations. Instead of being in the locker room after a loss yelling and going off on people, that’s not going to change anything. But talking to the guys, texting one another or calling and getting on guys personally, that’s the best way for our guys. It’s not about trying to be in the locker room being all rah-rah and standing up there screaming. We don’t play like that. That’s not us.

We go through situations during the season that will prepare us for the long run and the playoffs. We’re going through this phase right now and it might not be pretty, but we just have to understand that it will make us a better team and better as individuals. Me as a leader, I just have to stay positive and make sure we all fight though this, so later on we’ll be fine.

And we need you guys to stick behind us during this rough stretch. We’ll eventually figure it out, make some shots and get back on track again. Maybe in a couple of weeks, when we have it rolling again, we can laugh about all of this and think about how it’s made us better.

Superman is about to fly up to Washington to play the Wizards tomorrow night. Then, we got Atlanta on Saturday. So you guys hang tough, and we’ll do the same. Yuuuuuaaaaaaa.
