Heyyyyyy wooorrrrrrlldddd!! We got us another win in Cleveland yesterday and we’re in Indiana tonight. We didn’t play great on Sunday and I’ve got to admit it was kind of a letdown for our team when the Cavs didn’t play all of their guys, but a win is a win.
If we win our last two games, we’ll finish with the second best record in the NBA. That could be really big if we get back to the Finals again because it wold mean we would have homecourt advantage. Trust me, after starting in the Finals in LA last spring, we want to be in Orlando if we get there again. That could mean all the difference in the world. We want that championship so bad, so we’ll take any advantage that we can get right now.
I got a lot of stuff for you guys that I need to mention today, and I don’t really even know where to start.
First, here’s the memorabilia that we’re putting up on E-bay for the next seven days for you fans. Remember, a big chunk of the proceeds from this is going to fund the scholarship program for my summer kids basketball camps in Orlando and Atlanta. Here are the items:
My All-Star jersey.
Four Commander T-shirts.
A complete pair of SM TS Bounce Commander shoes.
Two complete pairs of TTS Bounce Commander shoes.
And another complete pair of AST NBS Bounce ARTI shoes.
I also wanted to tell you guys about getting to meet 21-year-old Brandon Young the other day at our practice. Brandon suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy and he’s blind in one eye. He got to hang out with us at practice the other day and I took him out on the court to shoot free throws with me.
All of the things that Brandon goes through on a daily basis, I don’t know I could handle it if I was in his position. But it’s so great to see him smile. The affect that we as professional athletes can have, sometimes we don’t realize what just saying “hello’’ could have an impact on someone’s life.
Brandon was so excited and jumping for joy, just being out there with us, making a shot and meeting all of the guys. Meeting someone in his position being so happy really had an effect on me the last few days.
We have to be thankful for living and having a good life. I was just thinking how life could be a lot worse and we complain sometimes over the little things. But here’s a guy who is 21 years old and he has a lot of things going on health-wise and instead of him pouting or acting upset, he’s smiling and having fun.
So maybe that’s today’s less for all of us: Be happy with what you have and realize how fortunate you are.
And my last thing today is telling y’all about the announcement that I will be making Tuesday night at Adonal Foyle’s Charity Gala Dinner. It’s going to be huge. We’re going to make an announcement about helping some people in need, and we need y’all’s help too. There will be some hot prizes and a chance to meet yours truly if you get involved.
So check back here on Tuesday and Wednesday and we’ll give you more info on the big announcement coming Tuesday night at Adonal’s gala.
Peace out.
