ANOTHER BUZZER-BEATER???

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

I played with LeBron in the Olympics and I’ve seen him do some crazy things, but that was the sickest of them all. I mean, that was a tough, tough shot. Turk played great defense, did all he could do really, and LeBron just made a heck of a shot.

He’s the MVP of the league, and that’s what he does best – make plays nobody thinks he can make.

What’s up with us losing all of these buzzer-beaters??? I mean, dang, Philly got us twice in the first round, Big Baby hit that crazy jumper from the wing against Boston and now this from LeBron??? I guess when you think about it, we won a couple of games at the end with Turk in Philly and Rashard here in Game 1. I thought Turk had done it for us again, running the clock down to one and hitting hit shot, but that was a tough way to lose.

Now, you have to watch that shot over and over again on the TV and there’s no getting away from it. But we’ve got to bounce back from this, and I know we will because we’ve done that all season.

We were almost up 2-0 on their home court, which would have been huge, but we just have to realize it’s all tied up now.

We’re going home and we know what we have to do to beat this team. I think Cleveland knows we ain’t no joke and we ain’t going away anytime soon. They know we’re going to keep scrapping and fighting and clawing, and we expect the same thing from them.

Now, we gotta take care of business back in Orlando. Everybody thought I was going to be all frustrated about not getting many shots Friday night, but I’m more upset about how bad we’re starting games. We’re giving up threes and dunks and we’re not running on offense. That just can’t keep happening, especially when we get home.

My man, Bron Bron, hurt us with that shot, but ya’ll know we’ll be back from that. We always bounce back whether it’s in the middle of games or after tough losses.

We’ll be at home now, and we’ll be there to win these next two games. We still think we have the talent and the team to win this series, and one loss – make that one shot – hasn’t changed our minds about that.

I’m out, ya’ll. Bring it for Game 3 cause we need ya’ll.

BREAKING BACKBOARDS

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

When people up here in Cleveland aren’t talking about LeBron (and that’s really rare) they are mentioning the backboard that I broke the other night in Game 1. I didn’t even know that it happened at first and when I heard everybody yelling, `Ohhhhhh,’ I thought my dunk must have been nasty on the replay. But then I saw whole thing had come down. After that I thought we should have just played half court for a while until they could fix the goal.

You’ve got to realize that I’ve broken a few backboards in my day. I guess I’m just too dang strong for my own good. I have four under my belt now. I’ve broken the glass, rim, everything. The first time was on one of my teammates in high school. The second time was a SLAM photo shoot. And the third time was at the YMCA in Atlanta. It’s funny to me when it happens and makes me feel all strong and swole up.

We have our minds on beating the Cavs again tonight and being greedy. We got one, but we didn’t come up her to get one win. We want ‘em both and that’s all guys have talked about. We know Cleveland will come up hungry tonight and we have to match that intensity.

We got some national love after winning the Boston series and getting Game 1 the other night, but we still have a lot to prove to people. We have to get this series and gain the respect of everyone around the league. I just think that if we play hard for 48 minutes, we should be able to do what nobody thinks we can do.

It still kind of feels like the LeBron Show up here and we’re just the background actors sometimes. When I look at TV all I see is everybody wanting to see LeBron and Kobe in The Finals. It should make us upset. We feel that we have a legitimate chance of winning a NBA championship. We have the right team, right coaching staff and players to do it. It’s not going to be easy and we have to take it. We have to believe that every night.

We’ve been under the radar all year and it’s motivated us. We’ve won one game, but that doesn’t mean anything. We want to gain everybody’s respect, but you do that by winning big games and series like this. We don’t want to take anything for granted after winning one game.

We’ll be ready tonight – believe that. We know what we gotta do.

Peace out, lil’ homies. — D-12

NOW WILL THEY BELIEVE IN US???

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Now, will people believe that we’re here to play and here to win this thing? We had a rough start Wednesday and our coach even called us “Witnesses’’ because we were just standing around watching LeBron dunk the ball, but we fought hard for 48 minutes and played like champions down the stretch. That was a BIG, BIG win for us up here in Cleveland.

It gives us motivation that nobody thinks we can win this series or even slow down LeBron at all. Hey, we held the dude under 50, what more do they want from us? (Just kidding, ya’ll).

I think we showed in the second half what kind of heart and fight that we have as a team. We’re just not going to go away. You are going to have to kill us to get rid of us in a game.

You would think people would see that by now after the way we fought back against Philly and Boston, but I guess we just have to keep on proving ourselves. But we’re just lil’ old Orlando and nobody is ever going to give us any credit for anything.

I was upset with my guys early in the game because I didn’t think we were playing with any fight. Cleveland was taking it to us and getting their crowd into the game. I was trying to stay aggressive on offense until our shooters could get it rolling.

The funniest thing early in the game was me breaking the goal down. I guess I don’t know my own strength sometimes. I never saw it go down, but I heard the crowd ooooohing and ahhhhing. When I saw it on the replay, I was laughing because I thought it was pretty funny that one of my dunks tore the goal up.

In that second half, we were attacking them hard. Turk was finding dudes open everywhere – hitting me for lobs, finding MP and Rashard in the corners for threes and I think we kind of rattled Cleveland some.

We can’t be satisfied now after winning one game. We won Game 1 in Boston and then we got hammered pretty good in Game 2. So we have to come ready to fight for 48 minutes on Friday and make another statement. We play our game, we just feel like we’re going to win every time.

Last thing, I got the NBA.com dunk of the night

I’m out to get some rest and start preparing for Game 2. Holla at ya’ll later, homies.

GAME 1 IS HERE AND WE’RE READY

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Game day is here and we’re ready to go. Confidence will never be a problem with my team, and we’ve got a lot of confidence going into this series against Cleveland. The Cavs have been so hot, killing everybody really, but we know if we play our game, we can beat any team in the NBA – Cleveland included.

Some people are shocked that we’re in the Eastern Conference Finals, but not me. I said a couple of years ago that we are going to bring a championship to Orlando and a lot of people laughed, but we’re serious. We have the talent and the team to win it all and we all believe we can do that this year.

I know we were down in the Boston series, but I never lost faith that we’d win that series. We just thought, deep down, that we were the better team and it was just about us proving that. Once we realized that we had to play the full 48 minutes to knock out the defending champs, we did just that.

Cleveland is going to be a tough matchup because LeBron presents problems for everybody. That dude is almost as big as me and he’s a guard!!! We have to keep him out of the lane and away from the rim – that’s a must for us. If he’s driving in there getting dunks and getting other dudes involved then we’re going to have a tough time.

I don’t want to say that we’re going to give him jump shots, but we have to make him a jump shooter in this series. If we can somehow accomplish that, I like our chances.

On the other end, I know that Cleveland is going to be physical with me and try to get into my head. Big Z and Varejao are good at lots of little tricks and flops so I have to prepare myself for that. I think the key for us is to run them and not try to go against their set defense all game. We keep them moving and use our athleticism I think we’ll be much better off.

Cleveland has had a lot of rest and we’re coming off a tough series, but I think it works in our favor. I like playing every other day to stay sharp. Maybe we can catch them a little rusty and steal Game 1 and get homecourt advantage right off the jump.

Aight ya’ll, I’m out. Wish us luck.

WE’RE GOING TO THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Wow, we just knocked off the defending champs on their home court. How about that?????? But really, I’m not surprised because I thought we were the better team, we just had to come and play with great energy and effort and do it for the full 48.

We played really well and got a lot of contributions from so many people. Turk was really aggressive finding people and making shots. Rashard was killing ‘em posting up, MP was knocking down shots and I told J.J. this morning he’d hit some big shots and sure enough he did. And I was out there doing my thing on the boards and rebounding because that’s where my focus has to be for us to win games like this.

We pretty much led start-to-finish and this time there was no comeback in the fourth quarter by Boston. I think that shows how we have matured as a team. We knew we had to bring it hard for the full 48, and that’s what we did.

Now, it’s onto Cleveland and we know those guys will be tough. They are rested and they have been killing teams in the playoffs. Bron-Bron has been incredible in the playoffs and we’ll have to play great on D to keep him in check – if that’s possible against that kid.

Cleveland, that’s a tough place to play and we had a tough loss up there late in the season. We did beat them twice in Orlando, so we won’t go into this series lacking any confidence.

I’ve been talking for two years about bringing a championship to Orlando and some people have laughed at me. But we really think we can win it all. We’re in the East Finals, but by no means are we satisfied now. We still want to bring that ‘chip to O-town.

Anything is possible as long as we keep playing with great energy and effort like we did against Boston. We feel we can beat any team out there.

Holla at ya’ll later this week.
