Heeeeyyyyyyyyyyy wooorrrrrrrrrld!!! We got a really tough back-2-back against my man Carlos Boozer and then Phoenix on Thurs and Fri, so I thought I’d hit you guys here on the blog early on today.
Playing at Staples Center the other night, I was shocked when I looked around and saw all the blue and white No. 12 jerseys in the crowd. I don’t care how many all-star games I go to or points I score or shots I block, I’m still amazed that people out there want to wear my jersey or buy my shoes. It’s like a dream come true, but you still can’t really believe it!!!
Seeing those fans, it’s inspiring to me because it just lets you know that there are a lot of people who appreciate what you do on the basketball court. It’s tough because some nights you want to sign everybody’s autograph and take every picture, but I have to recognize that we have to play a game, too.
I really enjoy meeting the fans because there are places out West where we only come once a year and those people don’t see us that often. I guess that’s why I use social media so much – so that I can reach out to the fans and tell them how much I appreciate them.
It’s crazy for me to watch the fans fight over my jerseys when I throw them in the crowd like I did Tuesday in L.A. I try and give it to some fan every game and that’s why our equipment guys brought six jerseys on this roadtrip. Sometimes, it’s like there’s going to be a riot and it’s just hard for me to believe that somebody wants one of my jerseys that bad.
A lot of people say that I have too much fun with it all, but hey you only live once. So I try to enjoy the attention even though it can be overwhelming sometimes.
Vince has been through all of this and he’s still a superstar, but he’s older now. All my teammates, coaches and the people around me do a good job of helping me through it.
But I just try to stay humble because I know how blessed that I am to be in the situation that I am. I’m just always thinking about continuing to be a great role model for all of the people out there who have supported me.
Speaking of giving back to my fans…my folks at adidas have just hooked me up with some pairs of my adidas TS Commander LT shoe to give out to my fans on the social media sites. We’re gonna be giving them out real soon, so look for something from me in the next week.
I’m outta here, ya’ll. To all my lil’ homies in Orlando: I’ll be home soon. Take care. Out.

I believe that it is really important to interact with fans. Even when I’m preparing for a big game, I always make sure to stop and sign autographs and take photos when I can.
