I’m a Movie Star!!!

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Hey, ya’ll know I had a busy summer what with the way I was working on my game, getting all swole in the weight room and traveling so much to Africa and China. But your boy also got a chance to go Hollywood this summer, and I gotta tell you it was so, so, so much fun.

First, I got to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in New York. We talked about me being on the cover of NBA Live 10 and me winning the Slam Dunk contest two years ago. Then, we played some Pop-A-Shot and I swatted a few of his shots.

Then, things got even better. I worked on two movies – the first one was “Just Wright,’’ a movie with Queen LaTifah. The storyline is a physical therapist who falls in love with a basketball player who suffered a major injury. It’s tight and ya’ll have to make sure you check it out later this year when it comes out.

A few weeks back I worked on “Valentine’s Day,’’ and let me tell you it has real star power in that movie. Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher and Anne Hathaway were in it, too.

I was supposed to just make a cameo in that movie, but I ended up in several scenes. It’s kind of a romantic comedy, so guys have to take your girls to the movie to check out ya boy on the big screen.

I finally got a chance to see what it takes to be a movie star. It takes a lot of work. I like movies and really enjoy doing that kind of stuff. But people just see the finished product and they don’t see everything that it takes to make that movie. Sometimes it was two or three hours just to do one or two scenes.

Being in front of the camera is something that I actually really enjoy. It allows me to be myself and have fun. Hopefully I’ll have a lot more opportunities in the future to do more commercials and movies because I really enjoy it.

Actually, a couple of the directors told me that I did a really good job and they want me to come back and do some more stuff with them in the future, so that’s exciting for me.

So ya’ll be sure to check me out on the big screen and let me know whatcha think.

I’m out for now. Holla back at ya later.

a craaaa-zzzzzy summer

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Yo, hey world! I’m having a craaaaaaaa-zzzzzy summer, but a great one too. It’s been a blast traveling all around and interacting with my fans out there. You guys are what makes being a basketball player so great, and I’ve tried to show some love to my fans this summer by getting out in camps and seeing all my lil’ homies out there.

I’ve been criss-crossing the country several times with all of the projects I have going on. I’m going to be in two movies, I’ve tried out NBA Live 10 (it’s so sick, ya’ll) and I got to be on TV with Jimmy Fallon. And ya’ll gotta see my SportsCenter and new adidas commercials that I have coming out in the next few months. They are tight.

Now, I’m about to go international. I’m heading to Asia for a couple of weeks, starting off in Shanghai. I haven’t been back over there since last year when the Magic went over there for three exhibition games. It should be a lot of fun.

Then, on August 31 I leave for Africa along with my boys, C-Booz and C-Bosh, for the Basketball Without Borders camps. The three of us hung out together every day in China last year in the Olympics, so it will be nice being with those guys again.

Some folks in Orlando are concerned that I’m not working enough on basketball while I’m doing all of this traveling, but yall have nothing to worry about. Everywhere I go my two trainers go with me. Just last week, we were going through workout sessions at 5:30 in the morning and again in the afternoon. We usually spend 90 minutes a day in the weight room and 90 minutes on the court. Trust me, I’m working harder this summer than I’ve ever worked in my life.

Getting to the NBA Finals just made me hungrier than I’ve ever been. I know I have to come back better next season for us to get that ‘ship. I want it really, really, really bad. So ya’ll aint got to worry about me getting my work in. Your boy is getting better, believe that!!!!!

I’m out, yall. My sked is crazy, but I’ll holla at ya later.

WE’RE IN TEAM’S HEADS NOW

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Yo, what’s up, ya’ll. Been away for awhile working on some off-season projects, but hope all of you Magic fans are having a good summer. I’ve been bouncing around some and was actually on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon last night in NYC. We attached a video clip here if you missed it.

Now that we’ve had some time after the season ended I’m beginning to see what a really good year it was for us. We did a lot of things the y’ve never done around here before. And to make it even better, we did them when few gave us a chance.

I mean, come on, who really thought we’d win in Boston in that Game 7? Who thought we’d beat Cleveland the way we did in the East Finals? Who at the beginning of the year thought we’d get to The Finals?

Losing to the Lakers still really bothers me when I think about it because that series was much closer than some people realize. We lost two games in OT that were right there for the taking for us. We win those two games and it’s on with the Lakers. We know it, they know it and everybody knows that series could have gone a lot differently if we would have found a way to win Games 2 and 4.

But we’ll learn from those memories and we’ll be better when we’re back in the Finals next year. Losing to the Lakers will make us work even harder and be even hungrier next season.

Looks like Cleveland just traded for big Shaq in order to try and stop me next season. It’s good to see that the Magic are on the minds of some other teams now instead of it being the other way around. Maybe now after getting to the Finals the little ol’ Magic won’t be overlooked as much anymore.

Those kinds of trades like the one Cleveland made just lets us know that we have to be better next season. Those teams are gunning for us and trying to get better, so we’ve got to do the same thing.

Trust me, it’s on now. I’m already getting fired up for next season. I’m ready to get back to work.

Ya’ll take care and I’ll drop you a line later on. Holla back.
