Showing Patience

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Heyyyyy worrrrrrllllllddddd!!! What’s up out there all around the globe? Life is good for us in O-town these days. We’ve won seven in a row and we’ve been able to get some rest in games because our entire team is playing so well right now.

Patience was a hard thing for me to learn early in my career because I wanted everything to come to me right away. But I’ve learned that if you stay consistent and keep working, good things will eventually happen.

I told people earlier this year when we kinda hit that skid on the West Coast that we had to be patient as a team. Everybody acted like we were the same team that got to the Finals last season, but we’re a totally different group. We’ve got five new guys and it just took us time to mesh.

Now, you can see those parts fitting together. VC is playing well, Matty Barnes is giving us that edge on the wings, B-Bass is getting some run, J-Will has that ring and knows how to ball and Ryan Anderson is going to help us again in the playoffs.

We want to be peaking in the playoffs, and we’re getting there now. It just took some patience. Y’all see, your boy is learning even though I’m still one of the young guys on the Magic.

I feel bad about what happened to my guy, D-Rose, in the Bulls game last night. We spent a lot of time together last summer going to China on that adidas trip, and I really think my guy is gonna be a star for a long time. But as it turned out, he got hurt in both games we played against the Bulls when we met at the rim.

As a big man, you never try to hurt anybody when they come down the lane. Me and Derrick are cool. I think he’s a great player and a great person. I never want to see him get hurt. But I always tell him, that if you come down the lane, always come off two feet. That way you’ll be on balance. You come off one all it takes is for somebody’s body to hit you and you’re going to fall.

It really upsets me when people say that I tried to hurt him. Like I told fans on twitter, why would I try to hurt one of my friends? That just doesn’t make any sense!

I hope he gets better and that there’s nothing seriously wrong with him. The last thing I would want to do is hurt anyone, especially one of my good friends.

Not sure if y’all got to see it or not, but your boy is on the cover of Men’s Health mag this month. Just trying to show off them guns that I worked so hard to build up. lol. The way I look at it is I work hard on my body to make myself a better player and I’m proud of it, so I kinda of show off for those magazines. And maybe somebody seeing me taking care of my body will inspire them to get in the gym or on the treadmill and stay healthier.

We shot the pictures for that article back in December when we were in L.A. to play the Clippers. Every trip top L.A. is usually a busy one, and that one was wild. And it was the day before my birthday!!! But the pics turned out good, especially the cover one where I look all swole up!!!

If you can snag it, look at the magazine and let me know what you think. Drop me a line on here or hit me on my twitter, facebook, superfan and renren pages.

I’m out y’all.

A Great Birthday for Me!

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Heyyyyyy world!!!! Now, that’s the way you celebrate a birthday!!! We got a good win last night against the Clippers and I think I played pretty well. I wish I actually had the night off on my birthday, but hey if you gotta play you might as well be in L.A. and have fun.

It’s crazy because we were in L.A. to play the Clippers last year on my birthday, too. I didn’t even get to see my parents until after the game last night, so it might not have even been my birthday still. I thanked my mom for having me 24 years ago. Man, that’s so long ago I don’t even remember it. Ha ha ha ha.

It was a good trip out to L.A. I did a photo shoot for Men’s Health, we shot an adidas thing for the all-star game and I got to have dinner with my boy, DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers. He’s a really good dude who I met when he was still in high school. I’ve tried to be a mentor for him and help him grow his game. I really think that kid is going to be a great player.

I call him a kid because I feel like an old man now. I can’t believe I’ve already been in the NBA for six years. I have to remind myself sometimes that I’m just 24 years old, and I have to remind my coaches of that too.

I’m still working on my game and I really think as long as I put the work in that I’m going to keep getting better and better. And I’m not stopping until I get that ‘ship. Everybody has been asking me what I want for my birthday and I gotta say the only thing I want in my life right now is that gold ball!!!

Tuesday was the first time I’ve been back to Staples for a game since last June’s NBA Finals. I was actually in L.A. over the summer to see a WNBA game and it really hit me then that this was the place where we lost the Finals. But being there this week to face the Clippers, it was just all about going to work.

We’re in Salt Lake City now and it’s butt-cold!!! It was cold in L.A., but this is craaaaa-zzzzzzzzzzzzy cold. We’ve got a tough back-2-back against Utah and PHX and with both games on national TV. This is kind of a chance for us to show that we ain’t no joke. Getting to the Finals last year was no fluke and it’s on us to prove that.

Well, lemme fly. I’m already dreading getting out in this weather. We actually canceled our morning shootaround in L.A. the other day because the gym we were in was so cold. Oh well, we’ll be ready to ball Thursday and Friday no matter how cold it is.

Holla back at ya boy.
