I love my team!!!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Heeyyyyy World!!!! What ya’ll up to? We got another win last night, but now it’s back out on the road again. We were home for one game and now we’re off to the West Coast for like nine days to play four games. It’s all good though because we will get some time in Oakland/San Francisco and L.A., two of my favorite spots. But it’s a business trip, so we’re keeping that focus tight.

I couldn’t be happier with how we’re playing right now. We had some rough patches early in the season, but I wasn’t really worried at all. We had a lot of new dudes on the roster with VC, Ryan Anderson, B-Bass and Matt Barnes, so I thought it might take us some time to get the rotations down on defense.

But I really see us coming together now. We played really well out on the road last week, and I think we’ll do that again next week because we love being out on the road together. To us, being on the road is like being at home. We know to win in the playoffs you have to be able to win on the road.

I just get the feeling now that this team really wants to be great. Every day that we’re in the gym we’re going hard and doing what we can to get better. This team wants nothing but to be great. We’re improving in a lot of different areas and if we keep that up I think we have a chance to be really good again.

My main job as a captain was to make sure that we get better every day as a team. And I just feel like now that we’re doing that. We just want to make sure we peak at the right time. We’re taking all the right steps in the right direction to become a great team. But like I tell everybody, everything we do starts on the defensive end of the floor. The last eight games have been very good defensively and we’ve done a good job of taking care of every detail.

We know that we have that target on our back and everybody is trying to take us down. That’s why coming into games and coming into practices, we just have to go out there and do our jobs and be the best that we can. Every day we get in the gym we go hard and do what we can to get better.

That’s just something that I love about my team – that hunger to get better every day. And so far it’s working for us. I guess we have the most wins in the league at 15 and we want to stay on top for the rest of the season. We want to win our division, win our conference and get back to the Finals. And this time it’s all about bringing that gold ball home. That’s our one and only mission.

I’ll hit you guys back from the West Coast this weekend. Holla back at yo’ boy!!!

Help me be an all-star again!!!

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Heeyyyyyy world!!! We had a really bad game the other night in OKC, but we’re going to try and bounce back tonight in Charlotte. Then, everybody knows who we have up next on Wednesday.

It should be a lot of fun facing those guys that we played in the EC Finals again, but first we have to take care of our biz in Charlotte. Us and Cleveland both changed up our rosters in the offseason, so it doesn’t even really feel like a rematch. But first things first tonight vs. these Bobcats.

Right now, we’ve just got to tighten up our defense. We are giving up too many open shots and fouling way too much. We can score with any team in the league, but we get in trouble when we just try to outscore people. Championship teams play great defense and we know that already. So we just have to shift our focus back to our defense instead of scoring on offense.

I just heard that the all-star ballots came out today. VC, ‘Shard, Jameer and me are on there this year for the Magic. I hope that you guys can help me get back to the all-star game again. I’ve been there three times already and I want to be in that game in Texas this year where the Cowboys play. That stadium looks incredible. I can’t believe they are gonna put a B-ball game in there.

I was blown away last year that you guys helped me get the most votes ever for an all-star player. That honor is one of the greatest of my career because it’s all about the fans helping me out.

I’ve always tried to be a man of the people and interact with the fans as much as I could in person and through Twitter and here on my website, but I was still shocked so many fans out there showed me so much love. I am blessed to have so many fans out there pulling for me.

Hopefully, you guys can hook me up again and help me get back to the all-star game. I’ve heard they might have like 100,000 people there for the game, and I can’t imagine playing in front of that many people. So I guess I’m here asking for your votes to help me out. Thanks you guys for everything you do.

Go Magic!!!

WE’LL BE BACK!!!!!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

I really expected us to win last night and take this series back to L.A. where we’d have a chance to win the championship. Losing the way we did to the Lakers last night was hard because it’s difficult to see your dreams fade like that.

Of course, we wish a couple of things had gone differently in this series. If we had finished in Game 2 and Game 4, may be it would have been us trying to close out a fourth win last night win that ‘ship on our home court.

It was hard to do, but I stayed out there and watched the Lakers celebrate. Nobody wants to see another team celebrate on their homecourt, but me and ‘Meer stayed out there because we wanted to see it to make us hungrier the next time around.

And yes, there will be another time in the Finals for us. The NBA ain’t heard the last of the Magic in the Finals. I know nobody ever expected us to get this far at all this season, but maybe now people will see that we’re for real and we’re going to be good for several years to come.

Losing to the Lakers will hurt me for a long time. It might take me all summer to get over this one. But it will be fresh in my mind as soon as I get back in the gym and start working on my game. I know I have to get better and I’m going to do everything in my power to make myself a better player this summer.

To all you Magic fans out there, thanks for your support. We wanted to bring ya’ll a title, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be this year. We’ll be back again, and ya’ll have my promise that we’ll do this in Orlando real soon.

I’m out. Peace. — DWIGHT

WE IN L.A, BABY!!!!

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Well, we made it out to L.A. after that long, long flight. L.A. is normally crazy enough, but now it has the Finals going on too. And we’re a part of it, baby!!!

We had a good time on the plane watching movies, game tapes and some of the guys were playing cards. I think we’re all pretty focused on the jo b that we have to do and we’re just ready for the game to start. But you know me, I had to try and lighten the mood and keep dudes cracking up.

We had a good practice on Tuesday before we left and we’re supposed to practice for a couple of hours at Staples Center later today. We have a media session to do before practice. You can already tell this is The Finals because of the extra media people around everywhere. It’s sorta like the Olympics or an All-Star Game because there are so many reporters around asking us questions.

But that’s OK, because maybe now we’ll start getting some of the respect that we deserve. Maybe people will start seeing that we’re for real and can win this title. We’ve already beaten two teams with 60 wins, and if we can beat the Lakers in the Finals it would be three. Somebody told me the yesterday that would be the first time that’s ever happened in the NBA. That’s would be pretty cool to do, huh???

We know that our fans back in Orlando have believed in us all season. It makes me so happy now when I’m out in Orlando, I see Magic flags on the cars, people are wearing Magic T-shirts and people are talking about the Magic again. When me and Jameer came here back in 2004, we talked about wanting to make this a Magic town again. I think we have taken a big step toward doing that with this playoff run, but now we have to finish the deal and bring that ‘ship back to O-town.

OK ya’ll, I gotta run for now. I made a vow that I’m keeping my phone turned off during the Finals because I’m going to stay focused. It’s my Twitter-rehab, I guess. No distractions, just concentrating on the game.

I’ll hit ya’ll back tomorrow, but keep those spirits up. We need everybody with the Magic to help us do this thang.
