The same can be said about the services of Orlando Magic All-Star center Dwight Howard. Howard has been Orlando 's go-to scorer, or donut, the entire season and the young star is doing all he can to keep his team atop the Southeast Division standings. Howard currently leads the squad in scoring (22.0), rebounding (14.9) and blocks (2.6).

Howard is also the master of the double-double, having recorded an NBA-high 38 this season. Howard, who enjoyed 15 straight double-doubles from December 3 - January 2 this season, owns eight over his last nine games and 190 for his career. Howard had 60 double-doubles last season, just eight shy of Shaquille O'Neal's record of 68 established during the 1992-93 campaign.

Howard, the NBA's leader in dunks, also has five 20-point/20-rebound efforts this season and 11 in his career. He has grabbed 20 or more boards 18 times in his young career and eight times this season. Those numbers are the main reason why Howard is the youngest player in NBA history to record 3,000 rebounds in his career.

The 6-11, 265-pound monster in the paint also has recorded two or more blocked shots in a game 28 times this season. Howard's presence inside leaves him as the only player in the league to rank in the top 13 in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage. He is attempting to become just the third player since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976-77 to average at least 20 points and 15 boards in a single season. Truck Robinson did it once, while Moses Malone accomplished the feat twice in his career.

His sizzling efforts so far this season has earned him a starting nod for the Eastern Conference All-Stars. Howard and the best in the East will take on the superstars of the Western Conference in the All-Star game next month at New Orleans Arena. Howard will also compete in the 2008 Sprite Slam Dunk contest on NBA All-Star Saturday Night February 16 against Gerald Green of Minnesota , Rudy Gay of Memphis and Jamario Moon of Toronto .

Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy better think about giving his best player some extra rest following the All-Star festivities because Howard's knees and back can only take so much this season. Howard will lead Orlando on Friday against the Central Division-leading Detroit Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

After tonight's tilt in the Motor City , the Magic will play seven of their next nine games as the host at Amway Arena.
