Dwight Howard Second in All-Star Voting
As expected, Miami Heat center Shaquille O'Neal -- the big man of the Orlando Magic's past --- leads Dwight Howard -- the big man of the Magic's future --- in the first results of the NBA All-Star Game balloting released Thursday by the league.
O'Neal led all centers even though he has been out most of the season following knee surgery. Howard has not missed a game and leads the league in rebounding.
O'Neal, a No. 1 pick in 1992 who left the Magic for the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent, garnered 522,815 votes to Howard's 415,708.
The NBA All-Star Game will be played Feb. 18 in Las Vegas. O'Neal, who was traded by the LA Lakers three seasons ago, should be ready.
Chicago's Ben Wallace is third in the voting at 216,443, meaning Howard is on his way to his first all-star appearance. Howard should be added by the coaches as a reserve.
