Well, we’re headed back to The Big Apple again to face the Knicks for a second time in six days. We’re back up here again ‘cause we had that game canceled here in November when they had some stuff falling from the roof. It seemed fine when we were here last week, so hopefully we can go beat the Knicks for a fourth time this season.
I’m sure by now you guys out there have already heard about our team-wide pledge not to cut our facial hair until after the playoffs. Of course, we want that to be after the Finals. If I can stand on that stage and hold up the gold ball I won’t care what my scraggly beard looks like!!!
We were all sitting around and discussing what we could do for the playoffs for unity and we first started talking about going bald. But some of our heads (like mine!!!) aren’t shaped right for being bald and it wouldn’t have worked out too well. Plus, I couldn’t imagine Stan Van Gundy with a bald head!!!
We decided to go with the facial hair thing and I’m trying to grow out the hair that I’ve got. My teammates are already killing me saying that I can’t grow much of a beard on my cheeks. I got a nice mustache and I know that I can grow a pretty tight goatee. I’m anxious to see what it’s going to look like because I’ve never really grown out my beard.
I’m concerned about Brandon Bass, aka Charles Darkley, because it’s going to be so funny to see him with a beard. He’s already cheated the first day, shaving and saying he was trying to keep his look all neat. We’ve been getting on him for that already!!!
The best beards will probably go to the Philly guys. ‘Meer Meer and Malik Allen have had beards since they were like 10 years old!!! They will have beards down to their jerseys if they don’t shave until June!!!
I couldn’t believe how much hype the beard thing got so quickly. They mentioned it on PTI like the next day and they were drawing all of these weird beards on me on SportsCenter the other night. Wow, we finally found a way to get a mention on ESPN.
I saw some of the fans already had the FEAR THE BEARD shirts at the Amway Center the other night and that’s cool that people are already getting on board to support us. Some DJs in town are talking about it on the radio, and we appreciate all of the support as we try to make this run for a championship.
We want all of the fans out there to get involved too. If you can’t grow a mustache, go buy a fake one. As for the ladies, if you have facial hair, well shave that off. (Just kidding!!!) I think the ladies should just paint their fingernails blue and white Magic colors. We just need all of the support going into the playoffs.
FEAR THE BEARD!!! LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER, MAGIC FANS!!!
Peace out!!! Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
